Kristen’s explorations of the natural world began at a very young age and developed into a lifelong passion for wildlife and the outdoors. This same passion led Kristen to pursue a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Zoology as well as a post-graduate program in Ecotourism and Adventure Tourism Management.
Kristen is an avid birdwatcher, who has birded all over North America, the Caribbean, Central and South America and Southern Africa. Kristen has since spent countless hours leading birding tours, birding in the field and taking birding trips. She has also lead birding programs for the Ontario BioBlitz, Rouge National Urban Park, Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre and bird banded for the Long Point Bird Observatory.A popular presenter Kristen regularly gives presentations on birds for a wide variety of audiences and special interest groups. Kristen also spent some time living in Costa Rica while guiding birdwatching and other natural history tours for an ecolodge.
In addition to her passion for bird watching Kristen is also a specialist in the field herpetology (study of reptiles and amphibians). Kristen has had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in the field with some of Canada’s most endangered reptiles.
In 2011, Kristen hosted the wildlife documentary "Alien Invaders", which premiered on OLN (Outdoor Life Network). In the documentary Kristen went to the Florida Everglades to capture and document Burmese Pythons, an invasive species of snake in Florida.
Kristen is also the owner of Wild Birds Unlimited Barrie, a backyard bird feeding and nature shop. Kristen greatly enjoys teaching people about our natural world and how we can be better stewards for wildlife and our natural world. When not on tour, Kristen enjoys wildlife photography, volunteering with various wildlife research projects, geocaching, being at her cottage and spending time with her family and friends.
